Waiting for Spring

The calendar says April, but here in Minnesota we are free from such rigid restraints. Winter in this state is your classic five-ton elephant—it pretty much leaves the premises when it gets good and ready—and at the moment, it isn’t in the mood.

The snow is heavy, sodden, and there is a lot of it on my driveway. I could, of course, get out the shovel... but why? The sun will do the work for me. And if there is any left by evening, I have some able-bodied males in my family that will take care of the rest.

Lazy? Nope, just realistic. Why put forth effort that isn’t needed? It’s how I write, too.
